Février 2006 :

Northwest introduit à nouveau un DC10 sur NRT-PEK et NRT-HNL en remplacement du 332 sur PEK et 744 sur HNL.
Emirates will inaugurate nonstop service from Dubai to Thiruvananthapuram (India) on Feb 1st. The airline will operate 8 flights a week, 7 of them with an A330-200 and 1 with a B777-200

Juin 06 :

Aerolineas Argentinas
Aerolineas Argentinas has applied to the Israel Civil Aviation Authority for permission to fly to Tel Aviv. If approved the airline would like to begin scheduled service in June with as many as 5 flights a week.

Japan Airlines

Japan Airlines announced fleet and route modifications for the period from Apr 1st 2006 through Mar 31st 2007. Highlights are :
Frequency Increases :
Tokyo-Chicago = From 10 to 14 flts a week (Mar 26th)
Tokyo-Los Angeles = From 7 to 8 flts a week (Apr 1st) 2 flts on Sat
Tokyo-Moscow = From 2 to 3 flts a week (Jun 4th to Sep 24th)
Tokyo-Taipei = From 21 to 28 flts a week (Mar 26th) by JALways
Tokyo-Vancouver = From 7 to 11 flts a week (Jul 1st to Aug 31st)
Route Suspensions :
Hiroshima-Seoul = 3 B767 flts a week (stops Mar 24th)
Komatsu-Seoul = 4 B767 flts a week (stops Mar 26th)
Tokyo-Las Vegas = 3 B747-400 flts a week (stops Sep 30th)
Osaka-Los Angeles = 7 B747-400 flts a week (stops Oct 1st)

Frequency Reductions :

Tokyo-Bangkok = From 21 to 14 flts a week (Mar 26th)
Tokyo-London = From 14 to 7 flts a week (Mar 26th)

Aircraft Switches :

Osaka-London = B747-400 to B777-200ER (Oct 1st)
Osaka-Taopei = B747-200 to B747-400 (Mar 26th) 7 flts a week
Tokyo-Amsterdam = B747-400 to B777-200ER (Oct 29th) 7 flts a week
Tokyo-Paris CDG = B747-400 to B777-300ER (Sep 1st) 7 flts a week

Domestic changes from Tokyo Haneda :

Suspension of Toyama route.
Increase of service to Kochi, Miyazaki and Tokushima.
Reduction of number and size of aircraft to Sapporo.
Larger aircraft used to Okinawa.
Domestic changes from Osaka Itami & Kansai :
Added turboprop flights at Itami as a result of reduced jet flights.
Itami-Narita will increase in frequency after Oct.
Overall increase in flights from Kansai.

Domestic changes from Nagoya :

Large-sized aircraft to Okinawa and Sapporo (747 and 747-400)
Increase in frequency to Kagoshima and Sendai.

Mars06/Avril 06 :

Cathay Pacific
Cathay Pacific's new route from Hong Kong to Moscow and on to Manchester, scheduled to be inaugurated on Mar 27th with 3 flights a week is being delayed until further notice. The airline is still waiting for the completion of regulatory formalities for Manchester which is taking longer than expected.

Delta Air Lines
Delta Air Lines announced it is in the process of obtaining all necessary government approvals to launch service to South Africa. If approved the airline plans to inaugurate daily service from Atlanta to Johannesburg via Dakar in December using a B777-200.

Emirates
Emirates will start a 2nd flight from Dubai to Perth on Mar 2nd. Initially this flight will operate 4x a week with an A340-300, departung Dubai on Tue/Thu/Sat/Sun and Perth on Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun. Frequency will increase to daily on Sep 2nd and switch to a B777-200

Ethiopian Airlines

Ethiopian Airlines will inaugurate direct service from Addis Ababa to Brussels on Jun 7th. The airline will operate 3 flights a week via Paris CDG departing Addis on Wed/Fri/Sun. Wed with a B757 and Fri/Sun with a B767.
Ethiopian Airlines will inaugurate direct service from Addis Ababa to Juba (Sudan) on Mar 27th. The airline will operate 4 flights a week with a B737-700. On Mon/Fri via Nairobi and on Wed/Sat via Entebbe.
Ethiopian Airlines will inaugurate nonstop and direct service from Addis Ababa to Libreville (Gabon) on Mar 28th. The airline will operate 4 flights a week with a B737-700. On Tue/Fri flights will operate nonstop and continue to Douala, on Wed/Sat they will operate via Douala.
Ehiopian Airlines will inaugurate direct service from Addis Ababa to Dakar (Senegal) on Mar 27th. The airline will operate 4 flights a week with a B767 on Tue/Thu/Sat/Sun via Lome and Abidjan.
On Jun 5th Ethiopian will increase the frequency to 7 flights a week by adding a flight on Mon/Wed/Fri operating via N'Djamena and Bamako.

Etihad Airways
Etihad Airways will inaugurate nonstop service from Abu Dhabi to Islamabad (Pakistan) service on Monday, Feb 13th. The airline will operate 5 flights a week, on Mon/Thu/Sun with an A330-200 and on Mon/Wed with an A340-300.
Etihad Airways will inaugurate nonstop service from Abu Dhabi to Peshawar (Pakistan) service on Monday, Feb 13th. The airline will operate 2 flights a week, on Mon/Thu with an A330-200.
Etihad Airways will inaugurate nonstop service from Abu Dhabi to Manile service on Monday, Feb 13th. The airline will operate 4 flights a week, on Mon/Tue/Fri/Sat with an A330-200.
Etihad Airways will inaugurate nonstop service from Abu Dhabi to Lahore (Pakistan) service on Feb 20th. The airline will operate 2 flights a week, on Mon/Tue with an B767-300.

 

Asiana
Asiana, which operates a daily B777-200 flight from Seoul's Incheon Airport to Saipan, discontinued the additional 3 weekly A321 flights it started operating recently due to low passenger numbers on these flights. The airline will also downgrade equipment on the route from Mar 26th to 4 weekly A321 and 3 weekly B767 flights.

Adria Airways will inaugurate nonstop service from Ljubljana to Rome Fiumicino on Mar 26th. The airline will operate 4 flights a week, on Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun, with a CRJ-200
Aer Lingus will base a 4th aircraft at Cork from June. This will allow the addition of 3 new routes as follows :On Jun 20th, 3 flights a week to Birmingham (Tue/Thu/Sat)
On Jun 27th, 3 flights a week to Berlin Schoenefeld (Tue/Thu/Sat)
On Jul 1st, 1 flight a week to Tenerife South (Sat)
All 3 routes will be operated with A320s
Aer Lingus will inaugurate nonstop service from Dublin to Rennes, France, on May 2nd. The airline will operate 2 flights a week on Tue/Sat, with an A320
Alitalia will inaugurate nonstop service from Milan Malpensa to Minsk on May 1st. The airline will operate 3 flights a week, on Mon/Wed/Fri, with an A320
Amercan Airlines announced it will not inaugurate new nonstop service from New York JFK to Newcastle which was planned for May 1st
Delta Air Lines added 2 Hawaii routes to its network last Friday when it began daily nonstop service from Atlanta to Kahului (Maui) as well as daily service on the Atlanta-Salt Lake City-Kona route. While both routes get 5 flights a week, daily except Tue/Wed, Kahului is served with a B767-300 and Kona with a B767-400
Qantas will double the number of direct flights from Melbourne from London Heathrow from 7 to 14 a week on Mar 26th. The existing daily 747-400 will operate via Singapore while a new daily 747-400 will operate via Hong Kong
Swiss will double the frequency of its Zurich to New York JFK route from 1 to 2 flights a day on Mar 25th. Most flights will be operated with the A330-200 with some using the A340
United Airlines will inaugurate nonstop service from Denver to Toronto on Jun 12th. United Express partner Shuttle America will operate 1 daily flight using an Embraer 170
